{"id":12206,"date":"2016-10-24T09:06:02","date_gmt":"2016-10-23T22:06:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/?p=12206"},"modified":"2016-10-24T09:06:02","modified_gmt":"2016-10-23T22:06:02","slug":"apisah-wins-wta-future-stars-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/news\/2016\/10\/24\/apisah-wins-wta-future-stars-title","title":{"rendered":"Apisah wins WTA Future Stars title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sydney teen Violet Apisah claimed the 16\/u WTA Future Stars title over the weekend, on the same court as the world&#8217;s top eight women will compete for the year-end WTA Finals championship\u00a0this week.<\/p>\n<p>Apisah beat India&#8217;s Shivani Aminenia 7-5 6-4 in the Asia-Pacific competition final.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a great opportunity to play on that court, cos all the pros have played there and that&#8217;s where I want to be,&#8221; Apisah told Fairfax&#8217;s Linda Pearce.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want to be No.1 in the world, but I just have to keep playing and training hard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Australian Fed Cup captain Alicia Molik told Pearce Apisah had a bright future.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She&#8217;s a strong girl and she&#8217;s a big hitter from the back of the court,&#8221; said Molik. &#8220;She has a great technique to her serve, it&#8217;s a really fluid motion, and she&#8217;s pretty sound off the ground\u00a0as well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When she&#8217;s a bit more explosive, she&#8217;ll be better at moving up to the shorter balls. But I don&#8217;t see too many holes. She&#8217;s got the world ahead of her. I wasn&#8217;t that good at that age, and probably neither was Sam.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To play where the best eight players in the world are playing, to share that stage, is a pretty phenomenal experience as a junior.
