{"id":12073,"date":"2016-08-29T10:00:25","date_gmt":"2016-08-29T00:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/?p=12073"},"modified":"2016-09-09T11:19:26","modified_gmt":"2016-09-09T01:19:26","slug":"goolagong-cawley-opens-blacktown-tennis-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/news\/2016\/08\/29\/goolagong-cawley-opens-blacktown-tennis-centre","title":{"rendered":"Goolagong-Cawley opens Blacktown Tennis Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis legends Evonne Goolagong-Cawley, Lesley Bowrey and Wally Masur were on hand to open the new $16 million Blacktown Tennis Centre at Stanhope Gardens over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The centre boasts 16 plexicushion courts, including an exhibition court with spectator seating for 228 people, as well as a new change rooms and an administration building.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis Australia Director of Participation, Paul Cammack told the Blacktown Advocate the centre would be a showcase for tennis in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe facility has been built to cater for everything from local competitions right through to Davis Cup-type events,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo it will provide amenity to the existing visitors of Blacktown Leisure Centre and access to the wider community as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Seven-time Grand Slam singles champion Evonne Goolagong-Cawley, dual French Open winner Lesley Bowrey and former Davis Cup Captain Wally Masur joined\u00a0Tennis Australia President Stephen Healy and Blacktown Mayor Stephen Bali to officially open the centre.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis legends Evonne Goolagong-Cawley, Lesley Bowrey and Wally Masur were on hand to open the new $16 million Blacktown Tennis Centre at Stanhope Gardens over the weekend.
