{"id":12056,"date":"2016-08-22T12:33:17","date_gmt":"2016-08-22T02:33:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/?p=12056"},"modified":"2016-08-22T12:40:33","modified_gmt":"2016-08-22T02:40:33","slug":"worlds-best-at-pwid-sydney-tennis-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/news\/2016\/08\/22\/worlds-best-at-pwid-sydney-tennis-championships","title":{"rendered":"World&#8217;s best at PWID Sydney Tennis Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2016 PWID Sydney Tennis Championships were held over the weekend at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre, with some of Australia\u2019s top players competing.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament, for tennis players with intellectual disabilities, attracted men and women from around Australia, with several medallists from the recent INAS World Tennis event in the USA.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly Wren, the current World No. 2 and INAS World Tennis gold and silver medallist, won the women\u2019s singles and doubles while Archie Graham, current World No. 1, also collected the double.<\/p>\n<p>Tournament Director Nikita Sayle said the tournament was a great success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an annual event for Tennis NSW and once again we saw some truly fantastic tennis from some of the world\u2019s best.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe PWID Sydney Tennis Championships is a highlight of our tournament schedule in NSW each year and it was great to see participant numbers continue to increase.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to all competitors and to the winners and finalists below.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>RESULTS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s Singles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(1)\u00a0Kelly Wren (NSW)\u00a0def.\u00a0(2)\u00a0Carla Lenarduzzi (VIC) 6-3 6-1<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s Singles\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(1)\u00a0Archie Graham (QLD) def. \u00a0(2)\u00a0Damian Phillips (NSW) 6-1 6-1<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s Doubles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Champions:\u00a0Kelly Wren (NSW) &amp;
