{"id":11894,"date":"2016-07-09T08:41:45","date_gmt":"2016-07-08T22:41:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/?p=11894"},"modified":"2016-07-09T08:41:45","modified_gmt":"2016-07-08T22:41:45","slug":"de-minaur-into-wimbledon-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/news\/2016\/07\/09\/de-minaur-into-wimbledon-final","title":{"rendered":"De Minaur into Wimbledon final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Exciting teenager Alex De Minaur is through to the boys\u2019 final at the All England Club after thrashing American second seed Ulises Blanch 6-3 6-2 on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The victory comes a day after dumping Roland Garros\u00a0junior finalist\u00a0Felix Auger-Aliassime from the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The Sydney-born, Spain-based all-courter had already reached the semifinals at the 2015 US Open and Australian Open 2016, and took a step further on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday will be De Minaur\u2019s first Grand Slam singles final.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s good to finally get over that semifinal barrier,\u201d the 17-year-old said. \u201cI\u2019m just enjoying every second of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>De Minaur is bidding to become the first Australian to win the junior singles at the All England Club since Luke Saville and Ashleigh Barty completed the double in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The last Aussie to reach a\u00a0Wimbledon junior decider\u00a0was Saville, who returned to the final in 2012 before falling to Felip Peliwo.<\/p>\n<p>De Minaur will face No.5 seed Denis Shapovalov in the final, after the Canadian\u00a0beat top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in three sets.<\/p>\n<p>It was a very different victory to De Minaur\u2019s; the Aussie clubbed Blanch in just 49 minutes, serving eight aces and smacking 18 winners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it helped that I didn\u2019t put any pressure on myself. I just came out on court just wanting to play my game and just be on top of it. Don\u2019t worry about score, my opponent, the court, or anything. I just got there, did my job, so I\u2019m pretty happy about it,\u201d de Minaur said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the other semifinals I\u2019ve played I\u2019ve put a little bit of pressure on myself, thinking \u2018I\u2019m in the semis\u2019, two more matches away I get the Grand Slam.
