We believe that being inclusive is reflecting the diversity of our local communities and that everyone should have the opportunity to be included and engaged through tennis in a way that is positive and meaningful for them regardless of their sex, sexuality, gender identity or any other defining characteristic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Inclusion is about providing choice for people to participate in sport in a way that they feel comfortable. As well as mainstream tennis opportunities, there are a variety of LGBTQ+ initiatives that people can choose to participate in.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/files\/2025\/05\/Tennis-NSW-CEO-Statement.pdf\">Please click here<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to read a statement from our CEO and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/files\/2026\/02\/TEnnis-nsw-President-statement.pdf\">click here<\/a> for a statement from our President regarding our zero-tolerance to any form of bullying, harassment or vilification towards people with diverse sexualities and genders. \u00a0This includes forms of homophobia, biphobia and\/or transphobia.<\/p>\n<h4>We&#8217;re a Member of Pride in Sport<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prideinsport.com.au\/\">Pride in Sport<\/a> is an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acon.org.au\/\">ACON<\/a> Pride Inclusion Program, specifically designed to assist sporting organisation of all levels with the inclusion of employees, athletes, coaches, volunteers and spectators with diverse sexualities and genders.<\/p>\n<p>To find out more about Pride in Sport, please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prideinsport.com.au\/membership-costs-benefits\/\">click here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22693 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/files\/2023\/01\/Casey-Dellacqua-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"660\" height=\"652\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/files\/2023\/01\/Casey-Dellacqua-1.png 660w, https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/files\/2023\/01\/Casey-Dellacqua-1-72x72.png 72w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>We&#8217;re Committed to Participating in the Annual Pride in Sport Index<\/h4>\n<p>The Pride in Sport Index is an initiative of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanrights.gov.au\/about\/news\/commission-backs-pride-sport-index\"><u>Australian Human Rights Commission<\/u> <\/a>and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportaus.gov.au\/media-centre\/news\/sport_organisations_encouraged_take_pride_in_sport_index_survey\"><u>Sport<\/u><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportaus.gov.au\/media-centre\/news\/sport_organisations_encouraged_take_pride_in_sport_index_survey\"><u>Australia<\/u> <\/a>and a legacy of the Bingham Cup, Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prideinsport.com.au\/psi\/\"><u>Pride in Sport Index<\/u> <\/a>(PSI) is the first and only benchmarking instrument specifically designed to assess the inclusion of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) people within Australian sport and sporting organisations. Participating in the index allows Australian sporting organisations to not only assess their own work, but determine what constitutes good practice, along with the ability to benchmark initiatives against an external measure, and other sporting organisations.<\/p>\n<p>To find out more on the Pride in Sport Index, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prideinsport.com.au\/psi\/\"><u>click here<\/u>.<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Transgender Inclusion Guidelines<\/h4>\n<p>Tennis has developed our Transgender Inclusion Guidelines for Community Tennis. The purpose of the guidelines is to create awareness and inform clubs, coaches, participants and volunteers on how they can be supportive of people who identify as Transgender. This resource also includes tips on how to foster positive experiences for all.<\/p>\n<p>To view the Transgender Inclusion Guidelines for Community Tennis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/nsw\/files\/2020\/10\/TA-Transgender-Inclusion-Guidelines.pdf\">click here.<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Dress Codes and Uniforms<\/h4>\n<p>All individuals should be able to work and play in a uniform in which they feel comfortable. It is advisable not to base dress codes on gender stereotypes (e.g. an attitude that women should only wear a skirt during play), as a flexible and gender-inclusive code recognises that all people have the right to dress in a manner consistent with their gender identity and\/or gender expression.<\/p>\n<p>If gendered uniforms are necessary, then consideration should be given to: allow individuals to choose which uniform they would prefer to wear; ensure that appropriate sizes are available; and design options suitable for all body types and shapes are available, including for participants, volunteers and staff.<\/p>\n<h4>Tennis Sydney<\/h4>\n<p>Tennis Sydney is an LGBTQ+ tennis club in Sydney, that aims to promote and facilitate LGBTQ+ tennis through social tennis, competitions and tournaments. To find out more <a href=\"https:\/\/tennissydney.org.au\/\">click here.<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Amazon Women&#8217;s Tennis<\/h4>\n<p>Amazon Women\u2019s Tennis is a Sydney-based Tennis Club and safe space for LGBTQIA+ Women.\u00a0 We welcome members and visitors of all levels. Amazon Women\u2019s Tennis strives to improve players\u2019 mental and physical wellbeing by creating a positive sense of community, belonging and social inclusion whilst enhancing the visibility of LGBTQIA+ women within the communities in which we play.
