As part of Tennis NSW and Tennis Australia’s ongoing commitment to grow the coaching workforce, we are offering 20 scholarships for people aged 16 – 22 to participate in a Community Coaching Course in January 2018. Out of the 20 coaches accepted, we will be offering further scholarships for two coaches to attend a Junior Development Course.

Am I eligible to apply for the scholarship program?

If you are aged between 16 – 22 as of Jan 22nd 2018 and are living in NSW then you are eligible to apply for the Search for a (coaching) Star Scholarship Program

What is TNSW looking for when assessing applications?

A commitment to the coaching profession – demonstrated in answers given on the application form.

You must return the scholarship application form by December 1st. If you are successful in your application form, you will be required to complete a Community Coaching Course application form by Jan 15th, 2018

What do I get if I am a scholarship recipient?

You receive a scholarship to attend the Community Coaching Course at Sydney Olympic Park, Jan 22-24, 2018. The cost of the course will be $50 (inc. GST). (RRP $425 (inc. GST)).

Of the recipients who attend the Community Coaching Course, two will be selected to receive a scholarship to attend the Junior Development Series Coaching Course at no cost which can be utlised at any time during 2018.

What is the assessment process for applications/How will Tennis NSW choose winners?

Applicants must answer the four questions on the application form. Recipients will be chosen on how well applicants can demonstrate, in writing, the characteristics needed to be a coach. We will also take into consideration an applicant’s location and the need for coaches in that area.

The two scholarships on offer for the Junior Development course will be based on how well coaches actively demonstrate these qualities when attending the Community Coaching Course.

When must I use my scholarships?

You must use the scholarship at the Community Coaching Course at Sydney Olympic Park on Jan 22- 24, 2018 – no exceptions.
The two recipients of the scholarship to attend the Junior Development coaching course will be entitled to use the scholarship at any time during the 2018 calendar year.

How do I receive my scholarship?

We will notify recipients of the scholarships and the reduction in course fees will be applied to their application.

Any other information?

Scholarship recipients will need to obtain a Working With Children Check and a National Police Check prior to participating in the Community Coaching Course.
