BAE powers on ahead of the new season

26 June 2018 |

The team from BAE Baseliners took the Term 2 Premiership defeating minor premiers Willmar Winners 47 games to 33.  All the BAE team rose to the occasion and played consistent tennis, their team finished off the last round winning all their 4 sets.

Playing off for third and fourth were the Credit Union Crushers and AON Aces.  This was a much closer proposition with the Crushers coming out on top with a very close tussle 44 games to 39.

Premiers: BAE Baseliners L to R: Nic Bartlett, Mick Woods, Peter Whelan, Kaitlin Volker, Darren Cameron, Bryce Vartuli, Tim Branch, Aiden Griffin (stand in captain for Justin Vidler)

There were two three-set winners showing the evenness of the contest.  President Dallan Garvey led from the front for the Crushers with Jack Hawkins playing very well on the night for AON.  It was fitting for these two to take all their sets as they had a very strong season, well done to you both.

This coming season will also see planning put in place for the upgrade to our northern six courts.  These improvements will see the re-fencing of the courts, court refurbishing and resurfacing.  This work will be carried out in stages in the lead up to next year’s Sugar Bowl.

A new season starts in July with gradings and tie break 10’s.  Home Hill tennis looks to welcoming players back and invite prospective players to come along and enjoy the facilities and camaraderie.
