85 Years of Tennis and Player Reunion Celebrations

This was celebrated on 22nd May, 2012 with about 65 past and current players attending.

Our function was a great success with many past players enjoying memories of their time at the Glenview Mooloolah Tennis Club. The book and stubby holders are still available for $5 each.

The guest we had to launch the book was Fay Colthorpe (nee Muller) who lived in the district in the 1940’s. At the age of 14 Fay won the Ladies singles tournament in the Palmwoods & District Tennis Association Championships. Fay told us some interesting stories of her time playing tennis in Australia and overseas.  Fay played at Wimbledon 4 years from 1953 to 1956. In 1956 she entered the ladies doubles with Daphne Seeney (now Fancutt) and they were runners/up. Another story was when they had to take a ship to England to play at Wimbledon and it took 6 weeks to get there.  There was no way they could train whilst they were on the ship so their fitness suffered.

We wish to thank the Sunshine Coast Regional Council for their financial contribution towards the cost of preparing and publishing the book.

Thanks to all who helped out on the day of our celebrations it was a great afternoon.

Life Membership

Ron & Jenny Morris were given Life Membership of our club for their contribution to the club over a period of 30 years. They were both pleased to accept the Membership and were very emotional about the honour. They were awarded this at our 2014 AGM on 23rd November.

O

At our AGM in November 2016 another member was given Life Membership for his contribution to the club with being captain of his team for around 20 years and also being President from 2006/2007 and Club Captain. Welcome to the Life Membership Honour Board to Mark Vaney.

In June 2019 another member of our club was given Life Membership for his work around the club keeping everything in order. His gardening and keeping the hedges well presented is a credit to him. We are happy to welcome Maurice Maynard aka Morrie to our Honour Board.
