Glenhuntly Tennis Club

Tennis at Glen Huntly Tennis Club from 15 May means

  • No more than 10 people on the courts for singles, doubles or coaching (plus the coach and the minimum number of support staff reasonably required such as Club Supervisor).
  • You can organise to play on our Club courts when you want to play. At this stage Club-organised Social Tennis will be limited to Sunday afternoons from noon.
  • Apart from coaching, playing is first come first on court – if there are 10 players on court and more players (members or visitors) come to play, then please play for up to 30 minutes from when you started and then rotate.
  • Players are strongly encouraged to wash hands at home before and after play, to use your hand sanitiser at the courts before and after play and to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve during coughing/sneezing.

  • Each player should bring:
  • two balls marked with your initials for use when you are serving (and please avoid handling balls when returning them to the server).
  • your own full water bottle (the drink bubblers cannot be used),
  • your own hand sanitiser for use before and after play, and
  • your own clean hand towel or wet wipes to avoid touching with your bare hands equipment such as taps and hoses, drag mats and court gate locks & bolts (after use please wipe down any items you have touched).

  • The clubhouse will be closed for the time being.
  • Please practice social distancing (1.5 metres apart) as far as possible. Please no “high fives” or shaking hands after playing.

  • Only core people for playing or coaching should be at the venue. Parents present for your child’s coaching and players waiting to play should wait in a car or in the park (up to two can sit on the park seat outside court 4). Please stay away if you feel unwell or have any symptoms of COVID-19 (fever or respiratory symptoms such as cough, sore throat and shortness of breath) or have had recent contact with anyone believed to have COVID-19. If anyone at the courts appears unwell or shows any symptoms of COVID-19, they will be asked to go home.

  • Record your players – if you play with any visitors or you have a group of more than 4 playing, please email our Secretary (at [email protected]) with the names and contact details for use later if contract tracing is needed. And we urge you to download the COVIDSafe app to help us returning to tennis.

  • In the event of non-compliance with any of the above, the Club Coach or any Committee member will be authorised to direct the player or parent to leave the courts – if there’s non-compliance we could get sick and our courts could be shut down.
