Mid-Week Evening Mixed-Doubles Social Tennis Competition
All matches of our mixed doubles inter-club social mid-week tennis competition are played on our courts at the Spring Valley Recreation Reserve in Flowerdale. Matches commence at 6.45 for 7 pm start. All players must be financial Club members and to cover costs including lights and balls, a match fee of $5 per person applies, to be paid on each night of play. It has proven to be very successful as it involves players of all ages and varying abilities. Teams are selected by the committee and vary each season. For the uninitiated, teams are structured to include players at levels, 1, 2, 3 & 4. A number 4-player could be someone who has never played before or is just developing their game. A No.1 player is usually an experienced and possibly competitive player. The idea is to make the game accessible and fun for a range of abilities and experience levels so that families and friends can all enjoy an even and fair tennis match together.
Juniors
A number of our juniors are playing and doing remarkably well in competitions and tournaments around the district including Whittlesea, Kilmore and Yea. Some of our kids enjoying the Hot Shots program play in the local Mitchell/Broadford Shire competition. The juniors team did very well in the recent winter season, making it to the grand final. Mixed boy/girl teams of four players play doubles and singles matches in the region on Saturday mornings; home matches are played in Flowerdale. We have one team in the current summer season.
Mitchell Shire Competition
We had 3 seniors teams playing in the winter season Saturday competition against Wallan, Broadford, Wandong, Seymour and Kilmore. All teams did very well with 3 of them making it to the finals series. We have now enrolled a seniors teams for the current Summer season.
