After many years of hard work and several moves the Ballarat ‘Lawn’ Tennis Club has finally found a place to call home. The Club is now working towards building a strong and successful tennis club for the Ballarat Community.

On Saturday September 19th Councilor Sam McIntosh attended a dinner function with almost 40 members and guests present to open the new tennis facility located in the Prince of Wales Park. In her opening speech she congratulated the Club for its generous financial contributions to the project, and said that ‘members are to be commended for the many volunteer hours they have put into landscaping; with some assistance from Ballarat High School students’.

She went on to say that the club ‘is to be applauded for its self-reliant and determined approach. You haven’t looked for ‘hand outs’ nor have you sat back and waited for things to happen; your approach is one that many other sporting clubs would do well to follow’.

The BLTC, along with council believe that partnerships with Council along with a self-help philosophy are the best way to deliver sporting infrastructure. Far more can be achieved and delivered when all stakeholders are proactive and contribute to the project.

Councilor McIntosh concluded saying that BLTC is ‘club with a strong sense of community and a commitment to providing opportunities to tennis players of all standards and ages’.
