Juniors: The resurgence of the junior ranks continues. Our 5 junior teams are doing extremely well at the half way mark of competition. Ladder positions: Section 4 boys 2nd, Section 15 boys 1st and have barely lost a set all season, section 20 boys 1st, Section 22 girls are 2nd and were unlucky to be defeated by a solitary game last Saturday. Section 23 boys have just slipped back to 5th position, our youngest recruits! Saturday morning is a buzz around the courts, and the kids are displaying great sportsmanship on and off the courts.

Seniors:  The Summer Season has just reached the half way mark and Section 3 secured it’s 1st win of the Season in a tough battle with Geelong Lawn 5 sets 43 to 4 sets 37. The Team had been building towards this victory for several weeks with some great shot making from all. Opposition Teams have several young teenagers and with Conor McKinnon injecting youth in to the side the old fogeys have had to lift their game!! Section 12 are travelling along nicely and sitting pretty at 2nd on the ladder. Considering some of these new members haven’t played comp for 20 or 30 odd years it’s not a bad effort! Dave Brauer and Paul Brown Bridge have found their groove again and Paul O’Brien still thinks he’s 17 and goes for every shot no matter what the consequence.

Midweek:  Our winter season has finished with a bit of a bang and a bit of a whimper! The bang is that our section 4 ladies rallied at the end of the season and moved into the final series only to be narrowly defeated (by 2 games) in the preliminary final! The whimper is that all other sections 3,6,7,and 10 all finished as “wooden spooners”! Not to worry, we are recruiting for next season and with some new faces on board we’re set to have another fantastic season. The Midweek Ladies celebrated the end of season At the Heads in fine style and will conduct a round robin ladies day on December 3rd – All welcome.
