BARWON HEADS TENNIS CLUB

“The great part about tennis is you can’t run out the clock……as long as we were still playing I had a chance! “ Andre Agassi

MIDWEEK LADIES:  Despite the fact that none of the midweek teams are on the top of the ladder this season (for a change!) the ladies are still enjoying their Tuesday hit. There is a very slim chance that section 4 might make it to finals, with only 2 matches remaining this season it will constitute a small miracle if they make it! They have clawed their way off the bottom at least! Many of our regular players have been travelling overseas and around Australia, so welcome back Kate Scott, Deb McNamara, Sonia Pittaway, Janet Booth, Ros Claringbold, Marg Pocock and  Merrilyn Harris (Broken elbow last match….and tried to keep playing!) There will be a round robin social tournament and Christmas lunch at the Barwon Heads courts on Tuesday December 3rd – All Ladies welcome.

SENIORS:  The summer season kicked off on October 12th and our club has 2 teams entered for the season in sections 3 and 12. The club welcomes Rachel Curtain, Indi McCulloch, Margie McLeod, Dave Brauer, Paul Brownbridge and Paul O’Brien to section 12. The winter premiership team playing in section 3 is back for another shot and includes father and son team Andrew and Conor McKinnon, together with Tracey Lazarus, Rhonda Sutas, Kerry May, Sally Edwards, Robert Begolo and Andrew Griffin. Good luck guys!  Wednesday evenings 7.30 pm all welcome for a hit under lights.

JUNIORS:  Junior tennis in Barwon Heads is having its best season for a few years with 5 teams playing. The 3 new teams and 2 returning teams all had a great start to the season with 5 victories! Great to see all the kids and parents having a great time on and off the court. We’re looking forward to seeing all the kids improving their tennis over the season and enjoying the game.  Friday night coaching has continued with numbers growing and 4 courts being used. Our club coach, Cameron Govan has had a significant and positive impact on our junior numbers – Thanks Cameron. We now have a girls team again – pictured L to R: Scarlett Brooks, Jacqui Honeywell, Daisy McNeilly, Ruby Mangelsdorf, Grace Cotter, absent: Matilda Ford. Go Girl Power!!
