{"id":9908,"date":"2016-11-09T11:01:06","date_gmt":"2016-11-09T00:01:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=9908"},"modified":"2016-11-09T12:07:06","modified_gmt":"2016-11-09T01:07:06","slug":"athlete-development-update-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2016\/11\/09\/athlete-development-update-november","title":{"rendered":"Athlete development update &#8211; November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The last month has been a busy one for many ACT players with plenty of tournaments being held in Australia and overseas.<\/p>\n<p>National Academy scholarship holders <strong>Kaitlin Staines<\/strong> and <strong>Lisa Mays<\/strong> travelled with an Australian tour to ITF junior events in Japan and Korea, along with coach, <strong>Todd Larkham<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Both performed well, Staines reaching a doubles final and a semi-final. As a result, Mays has seen her ranking significantly improve and Staines will be very close to cracking the world junior top 100.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annerly Poulos<\/strong> also travelled overseas, representing Australia at the <em>WTA Future Stars<\/em> event in Singapore, featuring some of the best 14\/u players from the Asia-Pacific. Poulos won her round robin section, but was defeated in the semi-finals. Upon returning home, she moved on to win the women&#8217;s singles at the 2016\u00a0<em>Canberra Tennis Festival<\/em> Bronze AMT.<\/p>\n<p>In Canberra, local players <strong>Alison Bai<\/strong> and <strong>James Frawley<\/strong>\u00a0had some good doubles results, with Frawley\u00a0reaching the semi-finals of the Traralgon Pro Tour event and Bai making the doubles final of the <em>Apis Canberra International<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Bruce Cup<\/em> was held in Albury, with 16 primary school players and 2 coaches attending from the ACT. The team gained plenty of match experience, finishing in 7th place after defeating Tasmania.<\/p>\n<h3>Other notable results in October:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Zac Donaldson<\/strong>\u00a0semi\u2013finalist, <em>2016 Canberra Tennis Festival <\/em>Bronze AMT.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jack Tallarida<\/strong>&#8211;<strong>Lyons<\/strong>\u00a0semi\u2013finalist, <em>2016 Canberra Tennis Festival<\/em> Bronze AMT and\u00a0semi\u2013finalist, 16\/u boys singles and winner doubles <em>ACT Junior Open<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charlie Snow\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0semi\u2013finalist, 12\/u boys singles <em>ACT Junior Open.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Charlie Camus<\/strong>\u00a0runner\u2013up, 12\/u boys doubles <em>ACT Junior Open<\/em>\u00a0and semi-finals <em>Bendigo JT<\/em> 12\/u boys singles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Madison Sutherland<\/strong>\u00a0semi\u2013finalist, 14\/u girls singles\u00a0<em>ACT Junior Open.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jamieson Nathan<\/strong>\u00a0runner\u2013up, 16\/u boys singles and winner doubles <em>ACT Junior Open<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alyssa Simoncini<\/strong>\u00a0runner-up, 16\/u girls singles <em>ACT Junior Open<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The last month has been a busy one for many ACT players with plenty of tournaments being held in Australia and overseas.
