{"id":9892,"date":"2016-11-05T17:18:22","date_gmt":"2016-11-05T06:18:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=9892"},"modified":"2016-11-06T15:25:50","modified_gmt":"2016-11-06T04:25:50","slug":"aussies-take-home-doubles-titles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2016\/11\/05\/aussies-take-home-doubles-titles","title":{"rendered":"Aussies take home doubles titles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Luke Saville <\/strong>(SA) and doubles partner <strong>Jordan Thompson<\/strong> (NSW) are the <strong>Apis Canberra International <\/strong>doubles champions, after taking out the men\u2019s doubles title today in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.<\/p>\n<p>South Australian player and world No. 167 in doubles, Saville, said he was happy with the way he and Thompson played today and in the lead up to the final round.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt really was tricky conditions all week actually, but we saved our best match till last, I thought we played really sharp doubles today,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Saville continued, \u201cJordan has been playing very well in the singles and that\u2019s been carrying over into the doubles. Matt Reid and John Patrick Smith are a really quality doubles team so it was a good win for us today.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the men\u2019s match,<strong> Jessica Moore <\/strong>(WA) and doubles partner <strong>Storm Sanders<\/strong> (QLD) took out the women\u2019s title 6-3, 6-4 in exactly 1 hour.<\/p>\n<p>Leading into the final, the second seeds dealt with ongoing blustery Canberra conditions, however Moore commented on how well the duo coped.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we did really well, she said. \u201cWe haven\u2019t really had a day that hasn\u2019t been too windy, so I think the matches leading into today helped us tactically. We were pretty switched on I thought, so we used it as much as we could.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite local support, Sanders and Moore trumped Canberra player <strong>Alison Bai<\/strong>, alongside her doubles partner<strong>, Lizette Cabrera<\/strong> (QLD).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe obviously knew that coming into the match that Ali [Alison] was going to have a bit of support around her, but we decided to have good energy, support each other and be really positive,\u201d Sanders said.<\/p>\n<p>Singles finals will play out tomorrow at the Canberra Tennis Centre with top seed <strong>Risa Ozaki<\/strong> (JPN) taking on qualifier <strong>Georgia Brescia<\/strong> (ITA) at 11am, followed by an all-Aussie showdown between [9] <strong>Marc Polmans<\/strong> (VIC) and [5]<strong> James Duckworth<\/strong> (NSW).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Luke Saville (SA) and doubles partner Jordan Thompson (NSW) are the Apis Canberra International doubles champions, after taking out the men\u2019s doubles title today in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
