{"id":7890,"date":"2015-11-22T16:14:17","date_gmt":"2015-11-22T05:14:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=7890"},"modified":"2015-11-22T16:15:13","modified_gmt":"2015-11-22T05:15:13","slug":"7890","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2015\/11\/22\/7890","title":{"rendered":"Velocity men rebound while women suffer first loss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Canberra Velocity Men <\/strong>have rebounded with an impressive win over the <strong>Western Sydney Warriors<\/strong>, while the women have suffered their first conference loss since 2013 in Wollongong today.<\/p>\n<p>The Men started strong, with <strong>James Frawley<\/strong> rounding out a perfect weekend in singles play defeating <strong>Blade Fong<\/strong> in straight sets. <strong>Jake Eames <\/strong>then defeated <strong>Jake Delaney<\/strong> in 3 sets to put Velocity up 2-0. The Warriors hit back with <strong>Max Purcell<\/strong> defeating <strong>Alex Babanine. Dimitri Morogiannis <\/strong>was impressive in his first match this season defeating <strong>David Barclay <\/strong>to put Velocity up 3-1.<\/p>\n<p>Eames and Frawley then clinched the win for Velocity with a straight sets win in the doubles. <strong>Daniel Guccione <\/strong>and Babanine went down to Delaney and Purcell in the other doubles to finish with a 4-2 Velocity victory.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s, Velocity got off to a quick start with <strong>Tyra Calderwood <\/strong>dropping just one game against <strong>Natalie Barbir<\/strong>. <strong>Michaela Haet<\/strong> then hit back for the Warriors, defeating <strong>Alison Bai<\/strong> at the top spot in 3 sets. <strong>Ashley Keir <\/strong>then put Velocity up 2-1, only to have the scores levelled at 2-2 when <strong>Lucie Kriegsmannova<\/strong> defeated <strong>Kaitlin Staines.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The deciding doubles were both tight matches. Bai and Keir lost the first set, only to rebound to take the second 4-0. However they couldn\u2019t maintain their momentum losing the match deciding tiebreak.
