{"id":7312,"date":"2015-05-27T10:20:03","date_gmt":"2015-05-27T00:20:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=7312"},"modified":"2015-05-27T10:20:03","modified_gmt":"2015-05-27T00:20:03","slug":"athlete-development-update-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2015\/05\/27\/athlete-development-update-may","title":{"rendered":"Athlete Development Update &#8211; May"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/files\/2015\/04\/Chorlida-Kang.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7225\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/files\/2015\/04\/Chorlida-Kang.jpg\" alt=\"Chorlida Kang\" width=\"405\" height=\"323\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>ACT players have posted strong results at tournaments in Canberra and Bathurst. \u00a0A number of ACT players featured on finals day at the ACT Junior Challenge and White AMT held at the Canberra Tennis Centre at the end of April.<\/p>\n<p>James Frawley continued his recent good form taking out the AMT Men&#8217;s Singles title. \u00a0In the Men&#8217;s doubles final, Jake Okines and Yuki Okamoto defeating Jack Fuller and Daniel Green. \u00a0In the AMT Women&#8217;s event Chorlida Kang had a great tournament, making it to the Women&#8217;s singles final defeating fellow Canberra player Laura Luca in the semis. \u00a0Annerly Poulos and Leah Williamson made the final of the Women&#8217;s doubles.<\/p>\n<p>In the junior events, 3 ACT players won their respective singles events, defeating other ACT players in the process. \u00a0In the 12 girls Alyssa Simonicini defeated Lejla Hajdar, while in the 16 Boys singles, Jamieson Nathan defeated Zac Donaldson. \u00a0In the 12 Boys Erik Chen defeated Jimmy Fu, then the boys teamed up to make the final of the doubles. \u00a0Stephanie Pang and Matina Ujdur also made the finals of their respective events, while Ellie Koundouris and Annerly Poulos won the 12 girls doubles. \u00a0Jack Fuller, Luke Sarris, and Violet Marriott all made semi finals of their singles events<\/p>\n<p>A group of 22 athletes traveled to Bathurst for the Bathurst AMT\/JT. \u00a0In the 16 girls singles, Violet Marriott had a great tournament, making it through to the final. \u00a0In the 14 Girls singles, Matina Ujdur finished in 3rd position as did Zac Donaldson in the 16 boys singles. \u00a0In the 14 Boys doubles, Sam Bisa and Jack Lyons made it through to the final.<\/p>\n<p>On the professional tour, it has been another positive month with Nick Kyrgios making his first career ATP final in Portugal, and notching up another impressive victory defeating Roger Federer in Madrid. \u00a0Nick is now at a career high ranking of 30, and ACT top female player Alison Bai has also reached a career high ranking of 355 in the last month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ACT players have posted strong results at tournaments in Canberra and Bathurst. \u00a0A number of ACT players featured on finals day at the ACT Junior Challenge and White AMT held at the Canberra Tennis Centre at the end of April.
