{"id":5763,"date":"2014-03-07T11:33:03","date_gmt":"2014-03-07T01:33:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=5763"},"modified":"2014-03-07T11:33:03","modified_gmt":"2014-03-07T01:33:03","slug":"2014-secondary-schools-singles-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2014\/03\/07\/2014-secondary-schools-singles-competition","title":{"rendered":"2014 Secondary Schools Singles Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday the 3rd and Tuesday the 4th of March secondary school students from all over canberra gathered together for the 2014 Secondary Schools Singles competition.This event is used as a trialling process to select the team for the Pizzey cup, with the squad of 8 boys and 8 girls travelling to Perth to compete in the annual event.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With over 200 players competiting over the two days the tournament was a great success. In the Open Boys A division Alex De Jong from Canberra Grammar School took home the title defeating Campbell High school&#8217;s Zac Donaldson 6-3. In the Open Girls A Division Tallulah Farrow from Canberra Girls Grammar School recovered from a 4-2 deficit to defeat Alfred Deakins Leah Williamson 6-4. The 14\/U Boys title\u00a0was won by Lyneham High school student\u00a0Hayden Okines while the 14\/U Girls title was won by Tara Dabrowski from Canberra Girls Grammar School.
