{"id":5612,"date":"2013-11-23T20:15:13","date_gmt":"2013-11-23T10:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=5612"},"modified":"2013-11-23T20:15:13","modified_gmt":"2013-11-23T10:15:13","slug":"velocity-teams-into-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2013\/11\/23\/velocity-teams-into-final","title":{"rendered":"Velocity teams into final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canberra Velocity\u2019s men and women have secured their spot in the NSW\/ACT Conference final of the Asia-Pacific Tennis League in contrasting style tonight.<\/p>\n<p>Velocity\u2019s women did not drop a rubber against NSTA Angels to book a finals berth, while the under-strength men\u2019s team scrapped into the decider after losing 5-1 against Sydney Olympic Rebels.<\/p>\n<p>Alison Bai dominated her match losing only one game against Abbie Myers, while Ashley Keir beat Michelle Brycki 4-1, 4-2, Nicole Hoynaski defeated Melissa Anderson 4-2, 4-1 and Tyra Calderwood prevailed against Stephanie Yamada 4-1, 2-4, 4-0.<\/p>\n<p>In the doubles, Bai and Keir combined to beat Brycki and Yamada 4-2, 4-2, while Angels\u2019 Lucia Gonzalez and Anderson beat Hoynaski and Calderwood 4-2, 4-1.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s division, Velocity\u2019s Jake Eames secured the one rubber Velocity needed to make the final, beating Adam Feeney 4-0, 2-4, 4-2, while Rebels\u2019 Matt Reid beat Robert Howe 4-2, 1-4, 4-0, Ryan Henry beat Todd Larkham 4-1, 4-0, and Jonnathon Cooper edged out Alun Jones 1-4, 4-1, 4-2.<\/p>\n<p>Reid and Feeney then combined to beat Eames and Jones 4-0, 4-1, while Greg Jones and Henry beat Howe and Jake Okines 4-2, 4-3.<\/p>\n<p>Velocity\u2019s women finished second on the NSW\/ACT Conference ladder and will play the undefeated Stanmore Wyverns in the final on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>In a repeat of tonight\u2019s match, the men will meet Sydney Olympic Rebels for a spot in the national final of the Asia-Pacific Tennis League at Melbourne Park in January.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canberra Velocity\u2019s men and women have secured their spot in the NSW\/ACT Conference final of the Asia-Pacific Tennis League in contrasting style tonight.
