{"id":5577,"date":"2013-11-06T19:30:39","date_gmt":"2013-11-06T09:30:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=5577"},"modified":"2013-11-06T19:30:39","modified_gmt":"2013-11-06T09:30:39","slug":"wyverns-edge-velocity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2013\/11\/06\/wyverns-edge-velocity","title":{"rendered":"Wyverns edge Velocity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canberra Velocity lost its opening Asia-Pacific Tennis League match against the Stanmore Wyverns today four rubbers to two.<\/p>\n<p>In the first-to-four games format, local product Alison Bai lost a tense opening singles match against Julia Moriarty 1-4, 4-3 (5-3), 2-4, while Nicole Hoynaski lost the first set in a tiebreak against Ange Svinos before losing 3-4 (5-3), 1-4.<\/p>\n<p>Tyra Calderwood dominated her match against Pamela Boyanov, winning 4-1, 4-2, while late replacement Maria Vais lost to Nicole Kriz 0-4, 0-4.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Vais was called in to play for Velocity\u2019s Ashley Keir, who was playing the Platinum AMT final in Gosford this morning. Keir was victorious in that event, beating Karis Ryan 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0In the doubles, Bai and Hoynaski split sets with Svinos and Boyanov before losing a Super tiebreak (2-10), while Calderwood won her second match of the day when she teamed with Vais to beat Moriarty and Kriz 4-2, 1-4, (10-7).<\/p>\n<p>Velocity\u2019s men\u2019s team, who had a first round bye, open their account against Sydney Uni Lions in Sydney on Friday, November 8.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canberra Velocity lost its opening Asia-Pacific Tennis League match against the Stanmore Wyverns today four rubbers to two.
