Kaleen Primary School in the Australian Capital Territory welcomed the beginning of a new era on Friday.<\/p>\n
Three new MLC Tennis Hot Shots mini-courts were officially opened at the school in the Canberra suburb\u00a0in a massive celebration that coincided with an AO Blitz<\/a> activation.<\/p>\n Kaleen Primary School deputy principal Belinda Love said it was a special day.<\/p>\n \u201cWe could not have asked for a better day,\u201d she said. \u201cAll the students and the staff are saying it was the best day ever.\u201d<\/p>\n Love said the school joined the National School Partnership Program<\/a> 12 months ago and was able to install the new mini-courts with help from Tennis Australia\u2019s National Court Rebate Scheme<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe feel just so lucky to have them. Tennis Australia\u2019s support was very generous,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe had some past students involved in the official opening and they can\u2019t believe we have facilities like this now. There was a bit of jealousy!\u201d<\/p>\n Love said the school\u2019s 580 students, ranging from pre-school to grade six, were already enjoying the courts, which were only completed the day before the official opening.<\/p>\n \u201cThe courts are going to make a tremendous difference and are really going to make our physical education curriculum come alive,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Tennis ACT community tennis manager Anthony Okines said the mini-courts were already proving to be a good investment for the school.<\/p>\n \u201cThe biggest highlight (of the official opening) for me was seeing the pre-school children playing. The teachers were so overwhelmed that the pre-school children were all able to get straight on them and do so well. It was great,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
