There are plenty of opportunities for Line Umpires to travel both nationally and internationally to some of the best tennis tournaments in the world such as the APIA International in Sydney, the Australian Open in Melbourne and the other Grand Slams in Paris, London and New York.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Canberra is home to some of Australia\u2019s leading Chair and Line Umpires who officiate at events within the ACT, around Australia and overseas: \u00a0Emma Walter and Sam Abousaidrecently officiated at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Pro Tour event at Sydney Olympic Park with Emma also officiating at a number of events across South East Asia.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>TOA ACT Chair Umpires Mark Crawley and Myles Emery also<ins cite=\"mailto:mcraw\" datetime=\"2013-10-23T12:23\"> <\/ins><del datetime=\"2013-10-23T12:23\">\u00a0<\/del>officiated at the US Open in Flushing Meadows, New York. These are just a few examples of the many opportunities available for ACT Tennis Officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great way to maintain involvement in this sport. I\u2019ve been involved in tennis officiating for over 10 years and thoroughly enjoy the experience, working around Australia and overseas \u2013 you will definitely meet lifelong friends.\u201d commented TOA ACT Division President, Mark Crawley. \u201cIt\u2019s a fantastic time to start officiating in Canberra. With the<ins cite=\"mailto:smerry\" datetime=\"2013-06-27T16:29\"> <\/ins>major redevelopment of the National Sports Club due for completion within the next year or so, we will be getting some high quality national and international events\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The course structure consists of an online component, short classroom session as well as some time where participants will enjoy the experience of being on<ins cite=\"mailto:mcraw\" datetime=\"2013-10-23T12:22\">&#8211;<\/ins><del datetime=\"2013-10-23T12:22\"> <\/del>court with players.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The next course will be taking place on Wednesday 6<sup>th<\/sup> November between 6pm -9pm at the National Sports Club, Riggall Place, Lyneham.
