{"id":4706,"date":"2012-11-16T08:54:31","date_gmt":"2012-11-15T22:54:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=4706"},"modified":"2012-11-16T08:54:31","modified_gmt":"2012-11-15T22:54:31","slug":"double-the-challenge-for-kyrgios","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2012\/11\/16\/double-the-challenge-for-kyrgios","title":{"rendered":"Double the challenge for Kyrgios"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>World junior No.4 Nick Kygrios will renew acquaintances with former doubles partner Jordan Thompson when Canberra Velocity plays the National Academy AUStars at the National Sports Club at Lyneham on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The pair reached the US Open junior doubles final together in September but will be on the opposite side of the court in the third round of the Asia-Pacific Tennis League.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJordan and I have played many times over the years and it\u2019s always tough. I\u2019m sure this weekend\u2019s match will be no exception,\u201d Kygrios said.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson, the world junior No.25, will be supported by another of Kygrios\u2019s arch rivals Jay Andrijic, and Jake Delaney.<\/p>\n<p>Kygrios, who has had a stellar year on court, is hoping to help the men\u2019s team notch up its first win of the new domestic competition after its loss to the ATP Sydney team on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a tough night, but we are confident we can rebound strongly on Saturday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Canberra Velocity\u2019s women\u2019s team is looking to continue its winning form against the National Academy NSW AUStars, led by Abbie Myers, in the first home tie of the round robin competition.<\/p>\n<p>Aggressive baseliner Nicole Hoynaski says she expects the team to improve on a nervous performance on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was so nervous,\u201d Hoynaski said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all were. We are so used to playing for ourselves, and we didn\u2019t want to let the team down.\u201d|<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s team completed a clean sweep against the lower-ranked City Community Tennis outfit in its first match of the competition on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Hoynaski said she hoped for a similar result on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are feeling confident but it will be definitely be a challenge to play some of the younger players who we don\u2019t know much about,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The aggressive baseliner said it took a lot of time to get used to the abbreviated format (best of three sets, first to four games).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s challenging. It\u2019s easy to feel under pressure to come out strong quickly.
