{"id":4680,"date":"2012-11-12T09:42:08","date_gmt":"2012-11-11T23:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=4680"},"modified":"2012-11-12T09:42:08","modified_gmt":"2012-11-11T23:42:08","slug":"canberra-velocity-to-open-their-accounts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2012\/11\/12\/canberra-velocity-to-open-their-accounts","title":{"rendered":"Canberra Velocity to open their accounts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canberra Velocity women\u2019s and men\u2019s teams will make their Asia-Pacific Tennis League debut at Sydney<br \/>\nOlympic Park on Tuesday, November 13.<\/p>\n<p>Alison Bai and Ashley Keir will lead the Canberra Velocity team in the opener against the City Community<\/p>\n<p>Tennis team headed by top 100-ranked Australian players Natalie Barbir and Chloe Costello.<\/p>\n<p>Bai and Keir will be joined by NSW-based Tyra Calderwood and Nicole Hoynaski in the opening tie.<\/p>\n<p>Keir, 18, from Nicholls, said she\u2019s excited that the new domestic competition is finally here.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a bye the first round so we\u2019ve had to wait a bit longer to get on court. It would be nice to give<br \/>\nCanberra a winning start,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Bolt, the 19-year-old AIS scholarship holder, says he\u2019s looking forward to opening Canberra Velocity\u2019s<br \/>\ncampaign against an impressive ATP Sydney team on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s good to play one of the better teams first up,\u201d Bolt said of the team that boasts touring<br \/>\nprofessionals Adam Feeney, Nick Lindahl and Greg Jones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf all our guys can play well against them we have a good shot of taking it out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Bolt has enjoyed a breakthrough season this year, winning his first Pro Tour title in South Australia in<br \/>\nSeptember and reaching the final in Esperance two weeks later.<\/p>\n<p>He now boasts a career-high ranking of 476 and, with three ITF doubles titles to his name, he will be a force for Canberra Velocity.
