{"id":4080,"date":"2012-07-09T09:35:32","date_gmt":"2012-07-08T23:35:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=4080"},"modified":"2012-07-09T09:35:32","modified_gmt":"2012-07-08T23:35:32","slug":"grassroots-tennis-recieves-a-boost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2012\/07\/09\/grassroots-tennis-recieves-a-boost","title":{"rendered":"Grassroots tennis receives a boost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Grassroots tennis received a significant boost today with the re-signing of ActewAGL as sponsor of the<br \/>\nCommunity Tennis Program for the next three years.<\/p>\n<p>The Community Tennis Program focuses on raising public awareness and increasing the levels of tennis<br \/>\nparticipation, competition, and training for coaches and administrators.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis ACT chief executive Ross Triffitt said the program provides invaluable support to volunteer<br \/>\ncommunity organisations throughout Canberra and the surrounding region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese services are fundamental for the growth of the sport, so we are delighted to be receiving support<br \/>\nfrom ActewAGL,\u201d Mr Triffitt said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir three-year commitment will help us sustain and grow these services and ultimately assist us in<br \/>\nachieving our ambitious participation targets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year Tennis Australia announced its strategy to have fourmillion people playing the sport by<br \/>\n2016.<\/p>\n<p>ActewAGL Director Marketing and Corporate Affairs Paul Walshe said the company had a proud history of<br \/>\nsupporting sporting organisations across the ACT and the surrounding region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to continue our support of the Tennis ACT community tennis program, which is a great<br \/>\ninitiative, aimed at increasing participation in tennis across our community, through grassroots programs,<br \/>\ninvestment in infrastructure and coaching education,\u201d Mr Walshe said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to the next generation of tennis super stars this program may produce from our region<br \/>\nin the future.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Grassroots tennis received a significant boost today with the re-signing of ActewAGL as sponsor of the Community Tennis Program for the next three years.
