Grassroots tennis received a significant boost today with the re-signing of ActewAGL as sponsor of the
\nCommunity Tennis Program for the next three years.<\/p>\n
The Community Tennis Program focuses on raising public awareness and increasing the levels of tennis
\nparticipation, competition, and training for coaches and administrators.<\/p>\n
Tennis ACT chief executive Ross Triffitt said the program provides invaluable support to volunteer
\ncommunity organisations throughout Canberra and the surrounding region.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese services are fundamental for the growth of the sport, so we are delighted to be receiving support
\nfrom ActewAGL,\u201d Mr Triffitt said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTheir three-year commitment will help us sustain and grow these services and ultimately assist us in
\nachieving our ambitious participation targets.\u201d<\/p>\n
Earlier this year Tennis Australia announced its strategy to have fourmillion people playing the sport by
\n2016.<\/p>\n
ActewAGL Director Marketing and Corporate Affairs Paul Walshe said the company had a proud history of
\nsupporting sporting organisations across the ACT and the surrounding region.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are proud to continue our support of the Tennis ACT community tennis program, which is a great
\ninitiative, aimed at increasing participation in tennis across our community, through grassroots programs,
\ninvestment in infrastructure and coaching education,\u201d Mr Walshe said.<\/p>\n
