The trophies have been making their way around Asia-Pacific and Australia for the last month and after Canberra will continue around the country before finishing in Melbourne for the beginning of the Australian Open.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the trophies will be on display at the Belwest Tennis Club before moving to Weston Creek Tennis Club on Saturday morning. All members of the tennis community invited to attend and catch a rare glimpse of the Australian Open trophies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is such a great opportunity for Canberra residents to get up close and personal with a real piece of tennis history,\u201d Anthony Okines, Community Tennis Manager at Tennis ACT said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not every day that a trophy of the Australian Open\u2019s calibre shows up in Canberra.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year marks the 100th time the men\u2019s Australian Open singles title will be contested, and for the second year in a row the men\u2019s and women\u2019s singles winners will take home an exact full-size replica trophy instead of a miniature replica.<\/p>\n<p>Where: Belwest tennis Club<br \/>\nWhen: Friday 11 November 4pm-530pm<\/p>\n<p>Where: Weston Creek Tennis Club<br \/>\nWhen: Saturday 12 November 10am-1130am<\/p>\n<p>For more information contact Tennis ACT on 6160 7800<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By: Edwin Smith Canberra residents will have a rare chance this week to get up close and personal with the Australian Open men\u2019s and women\u2019s trophy.
