{"id":19522,"date":"2024-08-29T11:54:06","date_gmt":"2024-08-29T01:54:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=19522"},"modified":"2024-09-02T09:25:01","modified_gmt":"2024-09-01T23:25:01","slug":"tennis-act-award-the-best-in-act-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2024\/08\/29\/tennis-act-award-the-best-in-act-region","title":{"rendered":"Tennis ACT Award the best in ACT and Region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tonight, the <strong>Tennis ACT Awards<\/strong> were held at QT Hotel, with over 120 guests in attendance from the tennis community.<\/p>\n<p>The event highlights collective successes including club growth, coaching talent and player highlights, showcasing the people and groups who were responsible for making it happen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tennis ACT CEO Mark La Brooy<\/strong> said it was a night to recognise and celebrate the fantastic tennis community, \u201cWith 16 awards presented, it was a great opportunity to celebrate all levels of our sport\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>La Brooy continued \u201cFor the second year running <strong>Melba Tennis Club<\/strong> took home the Club of the Year, due to their infrastructure upgrades, inclusion initiatives and integration into the local community\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Jillian Mitchell<\/strong> was awarded the Volunteer Achievement Award, due to her tireless work in the redevelopment of <strong>North Woden Tennis Club<\/strong>. The club is now home to the Aspen Medical All-Abilities &amp; Wheelchair Hub, which leaves a lasting legacy for generations to come\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The night also included the <strong>2024 Walk of Fame, <\/strong>which honours those whose exceptional contribution has brought recognition and esteem to them and to tennis in the ACT &amp; Region. <strong>Pat MacNicol<\/strong> was the 14<sup>th<\/sup> recipient, adding to an incredible list of Walk of Fame inductees. Pat was inducted due to her playing career, being one of the ACT top female players, spanning over three decades.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>2024 Tennis ACT Award winners<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Athlete of the Year: Ashliegh Simes<\/p>\n<p>Coaching Excellence \u2013 Club: Robert Jamieson, Canberra School of Tennis<\/p>\n<p>Coaching Excellence \u2013 Development: Andrew Bulley, Canberra Tennis Academy<\/p>\n<p>Coaching Excellence \u2013 Performance: Monique Adamczak<\/p>\n<p>Coaching Assistant: Jonothan Robson, North Woden Tennis Club<\/p>\n<p>ACT Adult Club Player of the Year: Nathan Franklin, Weston Creek Tennis Club<\/p>\n<p>ACT Junior Club Player of the Year: Alex Bale, Belconnen Tennis Club<\/p>\n<p>Junior Athlete of the Year \u2013 Male: Tommy Camus<\/p>\n<p>Junior Athlete of the Year \u2013 Female: Aliyah Dwyer<\/p>\n<p>Most Outstanding Athlete with a Disability: Isabel Cairns<\/p>\n<p>Most Outstanding 30+ Tennis Master: Pat Maloney<\/p>\n<p>Excellence in Officiating: Caityln Lewis<\/p>\n<p>Most Outstanding Tennis Club or Venue: Melba Tennis Club<\/p>\n<p>Volunteer Achievement Award: Jillian Mitchell, North Woden Tennis Club<\/p>\n<p>Most Outstanding Inclusion Initiative: Marymead CatholicCare \u2013 Neurodiversity Come &amp; Try Day<\/p>\n<p>Most Outstanding School: Holy Trinity Primary School<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Winners from the Tennis ACT Awards in linked categories will be nominated for the prestigious Tennis Australia Awards, the <strong>Newcombe Medal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tonight, the Tennis ACT Awards were held at QT Hotel, with over 120 guests in attendance from the tennis community.
