{"id":17956,"date":"2022-08-24T11:51:25","date_gmt":"2022-08-24T01:51:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=17956"},"modified":"2022-08-24T11:51:25","modified_gmt":"2022-08-24T01:51:25","slug":"tribute-to-yvonne-scales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2022\/08\/24\/tribute-to-yvonne-scales","title":{"rendered":"Tribute to Yvonne Scales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17957 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/files\/2022\/08\/2019-Yvonne-Scales-700x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"334\" height=\"215\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/files\/2022\/08\/2019-Yvonne-Scales-700x450.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/files\/2022\/08\/2019-Yvonne-Scales-200x128.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 334px) 100vw, 334px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is with great sadness that Tennis ACT acknowledges the recent passing of\u00a0<strong>Yvonne Scales<\/strong>, a true ambassador of tennis in Canberra.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wesley Tennis Club<\/strong>\u2019s much loved and respected Life Member, Yvonne passed away at the age of 98 years and four months.<\/p>\n<p>Yvonne first had joined the tennis club with her late husband Derek (who also became a life member of the club) when they moved to Canberra in 1962 and eventually became easily the\u00a0 most long-serving member of the club.<\/p>\n<p>A true inspiration to many Yvonne was one of Canberra\u2019s oldest players, playing tennis into her nineties.
