Canberra\u2019s Ros Balodis will captain the Australian Women\u2019s 60+ team at the ITF Seniors World Team Championships in Lisbon and Estoril, Portugal from 4-9 August.<\/p>\n
The Australian\u2019s are the defending champions in the Alice Marble Cup, with Balodis the only remaining team member from last year, with Victorian\u2019s Fiona Walker, Leanne Scott, and Rosemary Everett joining the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to being in a team with the people who have been selected, they are all nice people and good players and I\u2019m sure we\u2019ll have a good week.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite missing a lot of 2019 due to injury, Balodis is fresh off a solid week back on court at the Tennis Seniors Queensland Championships where she claimed the singles, doubles, and mixed titles without dropping a set.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was nice to get back to playing my first tournament of the year.\u00a0 I feel like I\u2019ve got a few things to work on, but looking forward to getting back to good form.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been injured since January so I\u2019m on the comeback trail and looking forward to being in the Australian team.\u201d<\/p>\n
While the Aussies are the defending champions, Balodis is expecting the competition to be tough.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe US always set the standard, but France and Great Britain, also have good teams along with Germany this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Following the team championships, Balodis will also compete at the ITF Seniors World Individual Championships from 10-17 August.<\/p>\n
