The Autumn ANZ Junior Pennant finals were held on Sunday 30 June at Weston Creek Tennis Club with the club providing a barbecue for participants.\u00a0 \u00a0 The day got off to a wet start with only half of the courts available for play due to rain.<\/p>\n
It was third time lucky for Canberra Grammar School as they claimed top honours in the Division 1 ANZ Junior Pennant finals, after previously falling at the final hurdle the past two seasons.<\/p>\n
Canberra Grammar School (CGS) team member, Quinn Blakers was pleased with their victory over Eastlake Tennis Club.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was good finally to win the Division 1 pennant for CGS. We had trained hard during the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn all three of the finals, we played against strong teams. But this season\u2019s final was when we worked best together as a team. Also, this year new courts were opened at CGS and they were good to train on.\u201d<\/p>\n
Representatives from ANZ were on hand to present medals and prizes to the participants which featured representation from 14 different clubs.<\/p>\n
Red Hill Tennis Club took out the most pennants, winning Division 2 Red, 2 Blue, and 7 Blue.<\/p>\n
The next season of ANZ Junior Pennant is set to start in early September with entries closing in mid August.<\/p>\n
