Part of The Australian Pro Tour, the next generation of top tennis players are set to compete when the\u00a0Apis Canberra International\u00a0kicks off in Canberra from October 27 \u2013 November 4 with a\u00a0USD$75,000\u00a0ATP Challenger event and\u00a0a USD$60,000<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>ITF Women\u2019s\u00a0event.<\/p>\n<p>Players from the world\u2019s top 200, and a crop of rising tennis stars from Australia and across the globe, will compete for significant prize money and valuable world ranking points, as they look to boost their rankings ahead of the Australian Summer of Tennis.<\/p>\n<p>This year is shaping up to be bigger than ever, with Tennis ACT today announcing an increase in seating capacity, reserved seating and the introduction of an exclusive corporate hospitality area.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis ACT CEO, <strong>Kim Kachel<\/strong> states \u201cThe Apis Canberra International returns for a fourth year to the world class Canberra Tennis Centre.\u00a0\u00a0 Last year 111 players participated in the tournament from 19 countries. We are excited to once more welcome Australian champions and future international stars of the sport\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Kachel continues \u201cThis year\u2019s event promises to be even bigger and better including a larger Kids Tennis Day to be held on Saturday 3 November. Last year\u2019s Kids Tennis Day saw over 2,000 people on site with 100 free tennis racquets given away in seven minutes.\u00a0 We look forward to seeing the vibrant crowds and international fan bases from across the ACT and region once more out in force.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2017 the event saw 11,976 people through the gates over the nine day tournament, making it an iconic Canberra event. Naming rights partner <strong>Anthony Honeyman<\/strong> from the <strong>Apis Group<\/strong> said the community element plays a key role in the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApis Group is part of the Canberra community, and it is great to have international events in the nation\u2019s capital.
