The past month was highlighted by a \u00a0trip to the Newcastle and Gosford Platinum AMT events. Tennis Australia coach Todd Larkham took a group of 10 ACT players including Ash Simes, Tallulah Farrow, Nornaaah Sharma, Matina Ujdur, Alyssa Simoncini, Luke Sarris, Damon Ilitch, Josh Kindamaan, Jimmy Fu and Jack Tallarida-Lyons.<\/p>\n
Sarris and Simes both took out the 18\/u singles titles at the Gold JT in Gosford, with Sarris coming through qualifying winning seven matches to take the title. \u00a0In the final he defeated fourth seed Matthew James Scheers 6-1 4-6 6-2.<\/p>\n
After surviving a scare in her opening round match, second seeded Simes got better and better taking out fifth seed Sahra Dennehy in straight sets in the semifinals before winning the final 6-3 7-6(4) over Ayda Guler.<\/p>\n
