{"id":13565,"date":"2018-04-10T13:52:34","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T03:52:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=13565"},"modified":"2018-04-10T13:56:48","modified_gmt":"2018-04-10T03:56:48","slug":"act-teams-post-top-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2018\/04\/10\/act-teams-post-top-results","title":{"rendered":"ACT teams post top results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ACT boys and girls teams have posted strong results at the NSW State Teams Championships held in Bathurst from 24-25 March.<\/p>\n<p>The Championships aim to provide the State\u2019s best 12 and under players with first class competition in an enjoyable team atmosphere, whilst introducing the educational aspect of on-court managers. \u00a0The teams consisted of four players, each playing a singles and doubles match in each round of play.<\/p>\n<p>In the boys event, the team of Dougall Tywhitt, Gen Casarotto, Hugh Taylor and Stellan Lindrud went undefeated in five pool rounds to earn themselves a spot in the final of the Tony Roche Cup. \u00a0The final came down to the wire with the result locked at 3 rubbers all, Metro Lightning edged out the ACT team, winning 24 games to 22.<\/p>\n<p>The girls team of Sophie McDonald, Aliyah Dwyer, Marqaylar Tere, and Isabella Andrews also had a great weekend playing in the Jan O&#8217;Neill Cup. \u00a0 The girls won four out of five pool rounds, only dropping a tight match to Metro Magic by 3 games. \u00a0In the playoffs, the team secured third place with a victory over the Metro Stormers.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis Australia Talent Manager ACT \/ SE NSW, Alun Jones was pleased with the performance from the Canberra youngsters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the strongest combined result the ACT has had at this event for quite a few years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u00a0It was a well deserved result as\u00a0I have witnessed the hard work each player has dedicated to improving their game over the past 2 months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jones also highlighted the important role the on court managers played in the teams performance over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c<\/em> A big thank you to local coaches Andrew Zedde and Belen Barcenilla for taking the teams away and passing on their knowledge to these young players.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2018\/04\/10\/act-teams-post-top-results\/attachment\/12s-team-2-470-x-270\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13575\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-13575\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/files\/2018\/04\/12s-team-2-470-x-270.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"470\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2018\/04\/10\/act-teams-post-top-results\/attachment\/12s-team-4-470-x-270\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13576\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-standardportraitmedium wp-image-13576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/files\/2018\/04\/12s-team-4-470-x-270.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"470\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2018\/04\/10\/act-teams-post-top-results\/attachment\/12s-team-10-470-x-270\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13572\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-13572\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/files\/2018\/04\/12s-team-10-470-x-270.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"470\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ACT boys and girls teams have posted strong results at the NSW State Teams Championships held in Bathurst from 24-25 March.
