{"id":13367,"date":"2018-03-02T15:45:17","date_gmt":"2018-03-02T04:45:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=13367"},"modified":"2018-03-02T15:56:04","modified_gmt":"2018-03-02T04:56:04","slug":"molik-inspires-merici-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2018\/03\/02\/molik-inspires-merici-students","title":{"rendered":"Molik inspires Merici students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fed Cup Captain Alicia Molik has inspired Merici College students with a visit to the school on Thursday 1 March. \u00a0Molik spoke to over 200 Year 7 and 8 female students and shared her tennis journey, encouraging them to follow their passion and emphasied the importance of completing their education.<\/p>\n<p>Molik then joined a PE class as the girls participated in activities from the new Tennis for Secondary Schools resource.<\/p>\n<p>PE, Health and Behavioural Science Coordinator Emma Kennedy said Alicia&#8217;s speech was valuable to young females.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Alicia was\u00a0inspiring\u00a0and empowering young women to be more active and achieve a a good lifestyle\u00a0balance. Her focus on the life long benefits of playing a sport was very worthwhile.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Alicia\u00a0challenged the girls to work hard, be prepared\u00a0and\u00a0highlighted the importance of female\u00a0participation in sport&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Merici College have this year signed up as a Partner School to implement tennis within their curriculum. \u00a0Kennedy said the school is excited about delivering the resource developed by Tennis Australia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our vision in Physical Education here at the College is to promote the joy of learning and engage all students in physical active.
