The Ukraine team beat us the last few times, they’re a really difficult team. But we have a lot of experience on grass. Ash loves it, Dasha is very accomplished on the surface too. We all play really attacking games the Australian Fed Cup Team, so it’s a surface that really works for us.

The practice courts provided the team with their first training session in Canberra, with Molik happy with how the court are playing.

“It’s no different, the court has been prepared beautifully. It’s playing incredibly even, it’s quite quick and it’s a real credit to the grounds staff here. There is no question that the main site match court looks fantastic as well.”

Molik said the team are happy to be in Canberra and looking forward to receiving strong support in the capital.

“For us it’s really important that we give our supporters the opportunity to watch our best team live at various places around Australia. Canberra is perfect this time of year. The grass and conditions are perfect today, just beautiful.

“It’s been such a long time since we’ve played in Canberra. It’s important for Australian Tennis and more importantly for women’s tennis. It’s important that it’s touchable and reachable for a lot of junior players.”

Two-day ticket packages and single session tickets are available through Ticketek.

Gates will open on Saturday at 9.45am with the opening ceremony to take place at 10.45am. Play will commence at 11.00am.

The Australian Fed Cup team has completed their first hit out at Yowani Country Club today ahead of their Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group II first round against Ukraine on the weekend.
