{"id":12960,"date":"2018-01-08T16:35:00","date_gmt":"2018-01-08T05:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=12960"},"modified":"2018-01-08T18:29:50","modified_gmt":"2018-01-08T07:29:50","slug":"stalwart-in-top-form-sela","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2018\/01\/08\/stalwart-in-top-form-sela","title":{"rendered":"Stalwart in top form: Sela"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>East Hotel Canberra Challenger top seed <strong>Dudi Sela <\/strong>(ISR) said he\u2019s \u201cnot so\u201d confident he can deliver a back to back Canberra title, despite being in the best form of his career to date.<\/p>\n<p>The 22 ATP Challenger Tour title holder confirmed at the Canberra Tennis Centre today he had a good preseason however the field for the East Hotel Canberra Challenger is very competitive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the players are really difficult, in every round, and it will be tough,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of guys here in the draw who were in top 20, everyone is a good player\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to describe Canberra as an attractive prospect, this being his third consecutive visit to Australia\u2019s capital city pre Australian Open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like last year really, every year before a grand slam, all the players want to play and get some matches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really enjoyed it here last year, it\u2019s nice, he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a good warm up for Australian Open so hopefully I can play well and get some confidence before the Australian Open\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Sela achieved a career high of 29 in July 2009, after reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon.<\/p>\n<p>32 year old Sela commented on his extensive tennis career and why he is in such a good place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou learn more, you\u2019re more experienced, and that helps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[I\u2019m] not so confident, but I will try my best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sela will play the feature match on Tuesday taking on Hugo Grenier (FRA) on centre court, not before 4.00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Third seed Guillermo Garcia Lopez (ESP) will open proceedings on centre court against American Sekou Bangoura, with fourth seed Mikhail Kukushkin (KAZ) against Aussie qualifier Jeremy Beale to follow.<\/p>\n<p>Young Aussie Alexander Crnokrak will play his first ATP Challenger match taking on Geoffrey Blancaneaux (FRA), with world No 95.
