{"id":12569,"date":"2017-11-05T17:32:42","date_gmt":"2017-11-05T06:32:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=12569"},"modified":"2017-11-08T15:04:07","modified_gmt":"2017-11-08T04:04:07","slug":"ebden-clinches-apis-canberra-international","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2017\/11\/05\/ebden-clinches-apis-canberra-international","title":{"rendered":"Ebden clinches Apis CBR International"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Perth\u2019s <strong>Matthew Ebden<\/strong> is on the verge of breaking back into the top 100 after a hard-fought 7-6(4) 6-4 victory over second seed <strong>Taro Daniel<\/strong>\u00a0(JPN) at the <strong>Apis Canberra International<\/strong> on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The 29-year-old, who started the year at \u201cbasically zero\u201d after missing most of 2016 with a knee injury, served well and attacked the net with gusto.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI forced myself to stay aggressive \u2026 and it paid off in the end. It\u2019s really nice obviously to win here at home,\u201d Ebden, a former AIS scholarship holder, said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew I had to execute my game pretty well today, that was key.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The tournament\u2019s third seed took command of the match early, breaking Daniel in the second game of the match.<\/p>\n<p>However, Ebden was unable to serve it out as Daniel, who took Rafael Nadal to four sets at this year\u2019s US Open, broke back with some brilliant passing shots in the ninth game.<\/p>\n<p>The third seeded Ebden was not deterred.
