{"id":12544,"date":"2017-11-04T18:51:16","date_gmt":"2017-11-04T07:51:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=12544"},"modified":"2017-11-04T18:51:16","modified_gmt":"2017-11-04T07:51:16","slug":"doubles-champions-crowned-in-canberra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2017\/11\/04\/doubles-champions-crowned-in-canberra","title":{"rendered":"Doubles champions crowned in Canberra"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The doubles champions have been crowned at the <strong>Apis Canberra International <\/strong>today with <strong>Alex Bolt <\/strong>(SA) and <strong>Bradley Mousley <\/strong>(SA) winning the men\u2019s title and top seeds <strong>Arina Rodionova <\/strong>(VIC) and <strong>Asia Muhammad <\/strong>(USA) winning the women\u2019s event.<\/p>\n<p>In the Men\u2019s Doubles Final third seeds <strong>Bolt <\/strong>(SA) and <strong>Mousley <\/strong>(SA) proved too strong for <strong>Luke Saville <\/strong>(SA) and <strong>Andrew Whittington <\/strong>(VIC) winning the match 6-3 6-2 in just under an hour<\/p>\n<p>Bolt and Mousley have proved to be a formidable combination this year combining to making the quarterfinals of <strong>Australian Open 2017 <\/strong>and winning 14 of 16 matches together.\u00a0 The South Australian\u2019s have now won back to back ATP Challenger titles after also taking out the <strong>Latrobe City Traralgon ATP Challenger<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The pair survived a scare in the quarterfinals, but were happy with how they played in the final.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought we definitely played some pretty good doubles together but we definitely saved our best match for today,\u201d Bolt said.<\/p>\n<p>In the Women\u2019s doubles final, Rodionova and Muhammad defeated third seeds <strong>Jessica Moore <\/strong>(WA) and <strong>Ellen Perez <\/strong>(NSW) 6-4 6-4.\u00a0\u00a0 This is the third time the pair have played together, winning the title in Bendigo last year, and also making the semifinals of last year\u2019s Apis Canberra International.<\/p>\n<p>The pair were happy with how they played in the final.\u00a0 \u201cWe did a good job, it was a little tricky, it got a little breezy, but I think we did a good job staying focused and played our game,\u201d Muhammad said.<\/p>\n<p>The singles final at the Apis Canberra International will be played Sunday with fourth seed <strong>Destanee Aiava <\/strong>(VIC) set to face sixth seed <strong>Olivia Rogowska <\/strong>(VIC) in the women\u2019s final, while second seed <strong>Taro Daniel <\/strong>(JPN) will face third seed <strong>Matthew Ebden <\/strong>(WA).<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s final will commence at 11.00am with the men\u2019s final scheduled for not before 12.00pm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Apis Canberra International<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Apis Canberra International 2017 is on at the Canberra Tennis Centre until November 5 2017.
