{"id":12359,"date":"2017-10-12T16:13:56","date_gmt":"2017-10-12T05:13:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=12359"},"modified":"2017-10-12T16:13:56","modified_gmt":"2017-10-12T05:13:56","slug":"juniors-battle-it-out-for-gold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2017\/10\/12\/juniors-battle-it-out-for-gold","title":{"rendered":"Juniors battle it out for gold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Players from across the country have battled it out for gold junior tournament ranking points at the\u00a0<strong>Tennis World Canberra Junior Open\u00a0<\/strong>held at the\u00a0<strong>Canberra Tennis Centre\u00a0<\/strong>from October 5-8.<\/p>\n<p>Tournament Director\u00a0<strong>Jarrod Williams\u00a0<\/strong>hailed the event a great success. \u00a0\u201cThere was fantastic tennis all-round from players. All matches were a pleasure to officiate and a true credit to the rising talent within Australian Tennis&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Williams noted there were a couple of standout matches on finals day saying \u00a0&#8220;On court dedication and persistence was a valiant display during the 16\/u boys singles final between <strong>Spencer Reynolds<\/strong>\u00a0(NSW)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Philip<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Hilble <\/strong>(NSW)<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0This was also evident throughout the girls 12\/U consolation final between <strong>Shiori\u00a0Takeda<\/strong>\u00a0(NSW) vs <strong>Arwen Koesmapahlawan<\/strong><span id=\"4006\" class=\"match\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0(TAS).<\/p>\n<p>From an ACT perspective\u00a0<strong>Nornaaah Sharmaa\u00a0<\/strong>led the way winning the 16\/u girls singles. \u00a0<strong>Jack Tallarida Lyons\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Jimmy Fu\u00a0<\/strong>both made the semifinals of the 16\/u boys singles.<\/p>\n<p>It was in doubles where ACT players excelled, with Fu combining with\u00a0<strong>Sam Bisa\u00a0<\/strong>to win the 16\/u boys doubles over Lyons and Hilble, while\u00a0<strong>Ashleigh Simes\u00a0<\/strong>won the 14\/u girls doubles with\u00a0<strong>Sarah Rokusek\u00a0<\/strong>(NSW). \u00a0<strong>Charlie Camus\u00a0<\/strong>was also a finalist with\u00a0<strong>James Newton\u00a0<\/strong>(WA) in the 12\/u boys doubles.<\/p>\n<p>Full tournament results can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/tournaments.tennis.com.au\/sport\/tournament.aspx?id=F13BAE59-58B4-4CA2-9B76-B2E3345CC16B\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Entries are now open until October 24 for the Tennis World Canberra Festival event. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tournaments.tennis.com.au\/sport\/tournament.aspx?id=AD217CB0-03D5-4FF7-ADA9-16634C82E1E0\">Click here<\/a> to enter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Players from across the country have battled it out for gold junior tournament ranking points at the\u00a0Tennis World Canberra Junior Open\u00a0held at the\u00a0Canberra Tennis Centre\u00a0from October 5-8.
