The\u00a0Forrest Junior Open,\u00a0<\/strong>part of the\u00a0Junior Development Series,\u00a0<\/strong>was held of August 5-6 at Forrest Tennis Club. \u00a0With 94 players participating, Tournament Organiser\u00a0Fumiko Lee,\u00a0<\/strong>was thrilled with the event despite some challenging weather.<\/p>\n

“The tournament went extremely well and the rain stopped just in time. \u00a0We had an hour delay on Saturday to dry up the courts and managed to all players to play the full amount of games that were planned. \u00a0Both days were really windy, but out large clubhouse sheltered them with hot drinks and food available. \u00a0We would like to thank all the players for arriving on time, good sportsmanship, and supportive parents”.<\/p>\n

The 15\/u Boys round robin singles was a closely contested event, which saw\u00a0Felix Lawler\u00a0<\/strong>defending his title \u00a0“I feel great, all the matches were close, and I won them all except for one. \u00a0I’m happy to defend the title”.<\/p>\n

In the Open girls doubles Katlin Bruce\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Sarah Huxtable <\/strong>also\u00a0experienced repeat success at Forrest “We won this event 4 years ago. \u00a0We are so happy to win again and we will definitely come back to defend the title next year”.<\/p>\n

The Junior Development Series consists of eight events held across the ACT. \u00a0Entries are now open for the\u00a0North Woden Junior Open 2\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n
