ACT\u2019s Matina Ujdur <\/strong>has won her first Australian Money Tournament (AMT) on the weekend, claiming the women\u2019s singles at the Tennis World Canberra Indoor Championships<\/strong>\u00a0at the Canberra Tennis Centre.\u00a0 Jamieson Nathan <\/strong>made it a double for the ACT winning the men\u2019s singles to claim back to back victories at Canberra events after taking out the Tennis World Canberra Challenge <\/strong>in April.<\/p>\n

Seeded fourth, Ujdur came up against top seed Leah Williamson <\/strong>(ACT) in the final of the Bronze AMT.\u00a0 Williamson went into the match holding a narrow 3-2 head to head record.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been training with Leah and we are good friends.\u00a0 I just tried to do what I do best and focused on taking it one point at a time\u201d Ujdur said.<\/p>\n

Ujdur secured the win, which came down to a tie-break in the third set, 3-4(3), 4-1, 4-3(4).<\/p>\n

On winning her first AMT she said, \u201cIt\u2019s something I have been working towards for a while.\u00a0 I played in the Wollongong Open the week before and made the semifinals so it was good to come out with the win in Canberra\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ujdur will now turn her attention to the Wollongong Platinum AMT before trying to make the draw at the Canberra Junior International <\/strong>ITF.\u00a0 She is also aiming to make the 16\/u Australian Championships in December.<\/p>\n

In the men\u2019s event, Nathan took out top seed Jarred Wynan <\/strong>(ACT) in a tightly contested final winning 4-3(3), 2-4, 4-3(2)<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a really tough match. \u00a0\u00a0Going in I didn\u2019t have high hopes as Jarred is very good player but in Fast4 tennis anything can happen.\u00a0\u00a0 There were two sudden death points so it could have really gone either way, it was down to one point at the end of the match\u201d.<\/p>\n

Nathan is now preparing for the Sawtell RSL Seaside Open.\u00a0 Currently sitting at a career high Australian ranking of 166, Nathan is aiming to improve his ranking to the top 10 in his age group in Australia.<\/p>\n
