{"id":10754,"date":"2017-03-15T16:30:32","date_gmt":"2017-03-15T05:30:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=10754"},"modified":"2017-03-15T16:32:07","modified_gmt":"2017-03-15T05:32:07","slug":"bourchier-bumps-top-seed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2017\/03\/15\/bourchier-bumps-top-seed","title":{"rendered":"Bourchier Bumps Top Seed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>World No.873 <strong>Harry Bourchier<\/strong> (TAS) caused major upset on Day 2 to overcome world No.220 and tournament top seed <strong>Jordi Samper-Montana<\/strong> (ESP) in an epic comeback at the ACT Claycourt International 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Down 5-0 in the first set, Bourchier was forced to dig deep against the Spaniard, closing out the match 6-7[3], 5-7 in one hour and 49 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was down 5-0 in the first set, so to get back in the first set and be in contention to even win that set was a top effort,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe [Sampner-Montana] started off a lot better than me, but I worked hard and caught up with him in the end&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI played really well and worked hard. Clay isn\u2019t really my surface so to beat a Spanish guy on clay is pretty insane, and I\u2019m pretty happy about it\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Based in Canberra since the middle of last year, the 21-year-old Tasmanian now trains in Canberra. For the past few months, he has worked towards perfecting his game on clay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve had a bit of a match losing streak so it was good to break that at the same time\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The win gains Bourchier a place in round 2 of the event, set to take on <strong>Steven DeWaard<\/strong> (QLD) on Thursday 16 March at 10am.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe win gives me a lot of confidence going forward, so hopefully I can bring that into the next match\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In other matches local <strong>James Frawley<\/strong> (ACT) was defeated by fellow Aussie <strong>Bradley Mousley<\/strong> (AUS).
