{"id":10404,"date":"2017-01-13T17:00:57","date_gmt":"2017-01-13T06:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/?p=10404"},"modified":"2017-01-16T11:09:55","modified_gmt":"2017-01-16T00:09:55","slug":"german-duo-doubles-defeat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2017\/01\/13\/german-duo-doubles-defeat","title":{"rendered":"German Duo 2017 Doubles Champions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>German doubles third seeds <strong>Jan-Lennard Struff <\/strong>and <strong>Andre Begemann<\/strong> have won\u00a0the <strong>East Hotel Canberra Challenger 2017<\/strong> Doubles\u00a0final round.<\/p>\n<p>The duo defeated unseeded Argentinian pair <strong>Carlos Berlocq <\/strong>and <strong>Andres Molteni<\/strong> 6-3, 6-4 just moments before strong winds and rain threatened to suspend play.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was definitely tough to play today, you can\u2019t really practice playing in these conditions,\u201d said Begemann.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComing from Germany, it\u2019s tough to even practice in warm conditions. It\u2019s about staying mentally tough, being patient.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know you\u2019re not going to play your best tennis, so in the end I think it\u2019s more the mental [aspect].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the less than ideal conditions, the pair have enjoyed their time in Canberra.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt feels like everyone is on vacation,\u201d said Begemann. \u201cIt\u2019s amazingly quiet, and amazingly peaceful, and amazingly nice people. They welcomed us, and we had a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Begemann can now spend some time relaxing, Struff will play Israeli [8] <strong>Dudi Sela <\/strong>in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/act\/news\/2017\/01\/13\/struff-and-sela-play-off-for-canberra-title\">singles final tomorrow at 11am<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[I\u2019m] really looking forward [to it],\u201d Struff said. \u201cI\u2019ve played him twice, two years ago [at the] Australian Open, so [I\u2019m] really looking forward to the match.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While this is only the second event the duo have played together, they are looking forward to the possibility of continuing as a team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really like to play with Andre,\u201d Struff said. \u201cI hope we play many more times together [but] we will see.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>German doubles third seeds Jan-Lennard Struff and Andre Begemann have won\u00a0the East Hotel Canberra Challenger 2017 Doubles\u00a0final round.
