6 June 2019 | Tennis ACT

The Walking Clinic Adult Pennant champions have been crowned for the autumn season with nine different clubs sharing the honours.  Belconnen Tennis Club scored the most titles, winning division 3 and 7 in Monday/Tuesday night and also taking out the top division on Thursday night. O’Connor and Kaleen Tennis Clubs also took out two divisions each.

Division 1 of Monday/Tuesday night proved to be highly competitive all season, with the final between Weston Creek and ANU proving no exception.  With the final locked at two rubbers a piece, going into the last two matches, defending champions Weston Creek held on to claim victory in both and retain their title.

Despite his team failing to make the finals, Aaron Porreca from Tennis World Canberra, proved to be the strongest player in division 1, compiling a 9-0 singles record throughout the competition.

One-hundred and sixteen teams participated across the two competitions, with 3391 sets completed by over 700 players.

The Walking Clinic Adult Pennant Autumn Presentation brunch was held on Saturday 1 June at Next Gen Canberra.  Photos from the presentation are on the Tennis ACT facebook page.

Thank you to The Walking Clinic who continues to support Adult Pennant and support tennis across the ACT and region.
