Tennis

This weekend, the Board of Tennis West will be advertising its Chief Executive Officer position, the current contract for which expires in October, 2014. Excitingly, the role is set to be augmented significantly (ie) in addition to leading the sport in this State, the position will now also encompass the role of Event Director for Western Australia’s premier international tournament, the Hopman Cup.

Integration of the Tennis West CEO and Hopman Cup Event Director roles is an important step forward for tennis in WA. In promoting the sport through our flagship event, we necessarily attend to our goals as an association, especially those which seek to maximize community engagement and community programs designed to see more people playing tennis more often. In promoting the tournament with greater efficacy at club level, we provide a platform to inspire future athletes, and opportunities for current tennis people to become involved in an event of great sophistication and international renown. Ultimately, in integrating the roles, we more closely align grass roots tennis with our own, world-class tournament.

The Board, in conjunction with Tennis Australia, is seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational CEO to provide outstanding leadership and strategic direction to the organisation, with associated responsibility for the growth and success of the Hopman Cup. In addition to leadership skills in a sporting or event environment, the successful candidate will demonstrate proven experience in governance, financial and people management.

This represents an exciting development for Tennis West and an opportunity to further enhance our business – and our sport. We look forward to providing you updates on our progress and welcome questions or requests for more information.
