As a member of Tennis Victoria you have access to insurance cover under the Tennis Victoria Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy. This policy provides compensation as a consequence of injury sustained whilst playing in sanctioned and/or officially organised tennis events. This includes training, competitions, tournaments, attending social functions, performing voluntary work for the club and travelling to and from such events, anywhere in Australia.

When am I covered?

As a Tennis Victoria member, you are covered if you sustain an injury whilst playing in sanctioned and/or officially organised tennis events. This includes training, competitions, tournaments, attending social functions, performing voluntary work for the club and travelling to and from such events, anywhere in Australia.

In 2009 and 2010 there was a total of 161 successful Personal Accident Insurance claims submitted resulting in $168,472 in total being paid out to assist registered Tennis Victoria members recover from injuries sustained while playing tennis.

What am I covered for?

The policy covers items such as the following non Medicare Medical related costs; physiotherapy, chiropractor, private hospital accommodation and theatre fees (where Medicare does not apply), ambulance transport costs. The policy also includes ancillary benefits, such as loss of income.

Due to the Health Insurance Act (Cth) 1973, insurers are unable to contribute to any charges covered by Medicare (including the Medicare Gap). Therefore any charges for treatment from a doctor, surgeon, anaesthetist or surgeon’s assistant are not covered.  It also means charges for x-ray, some MRI scans (if Medicare registered) and public hospitals are not covered.

How do I make a claim?

If you have been injured and would like to make a claim, please follow the steps below:

Step 1:
Go to http://www.sportscover.com/claims.asp and complete the claim form request information. A list of FAQ’s is also available on this page.

A claim form will then be posted to you within 2 business days.

Step 2:
Once you have completed all sections of the claim form and attached any relevant receipts, you must post your completed form in the mail to Sportscover. Sportscover will then send you confirmation that they have received your claim, along with a claim number and Internet Access PIN.

Step 3:
Once you have received your PIN from Sportscover, you will be able to monitor your claim’s progress via the Sportscover website or you can contact Sportscover directly on 1300 134 956.
