After a day of battling constant wet weather, the number one ranked teams at the completion of the home and away season have been awarded the 2015 Tennis Victoria Premier League titles.  Grace Park Hawthorn and Beaumaris Lawn were named the 2015 men’s and women’s competition winners. Both clubs were awarded the $5000 prize money and the runner-up’s Kooyong Lawn were awarded $2000.

On a cold and wet Melbourne day, players were unfortunately forced on and off the court at regular intervals due to rain denying enough match play to secure a winning match result in both finals.

Jarryd Maher of Grace Park Hawthorn Club and Zoe Hives of MCC Tennis Section were crowned the premier players of the competition as the winners of the 2015 Ace Award.

Tennis Victoria Competitions Manager Jeff Downes acknowledged the Ace Award winners “Zoe Hives and Jarryd Maher have both been perennial good performers across Tennis Victoria’s major high level competitions over the past few years and it is pleasing that they are our 2015 Ace Award winners. It is a great reward for both players who are certainly great team players and well respected within their clubs and the broader local tennis community.

The 2015 season had many highlights with the emergence of new clubs joining in Bundoora in the men’s competition as well as semifinalist Mornington and eventual winner Beaumaris Lawn in the women’s competition. The continued improvement of the Country All Stars in its third season and the increase in prize money to $14k on offer across both the men’s and women’s competitions was well received by clubs and players.
