Victorian tennis clubs, players, coaches and administrators were given a major boost this week when the finalists for the Victorian Tennis Awards 2012 were announced.
Amongst the finalists is Elaine Tennis Club (Central Highlands), who is a finalist in the Most Outstanding Club, Centre, Association or School category.
“To get recognised like this is beyond our wildest dreams,” said Shane Dunne, the club’s Secretary.
This is a remarkable achievement for the club given it folded in 2000 and only reformed in 2010.
“We couldn’t have imagined it (receiving the nomination) when we started off, we didn’t do this for any awards, we did this for the local kids.”
