A number of Tennis Victoria affiliated clubs have been awarded a VicHealth Active Club Grant to help enhance the facilities and equipment at their club.

Grants of up to $2500 were awarded, with the money going towards the purchase of sporting and injury prevention equipment, training volunteers and portable sun shades.

The grants were given to clubs that cater for indigenous communities, young people, older people, people with a disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and clubs in rural and low socio-economic areas.

The North Sunshine Tennis Club received a grant of $1100 and has put it towards a new defibrillator to ensure the safety of their members.

“It was something that we as a club saw as really important,” said John Harvey, President of the club.

“We have an older crowd at our club so it appeared to be the logical thing to do.”

“It is only a matter of time before someone has an incident on tennis court. We want to look after the health of our members.”
