It was a blast from the past at the Templestowe Park Tennis Club on the weekend, with members dressing up in traditional white tennis attire to help celebrate the club’s 100th birthday.

A mixed doubles and a ladies doubles match took place on two of the synthetic clay courts, with the players thoroughly enjoying the novelty of playing tennis with traditional wooden racquets and specially designed white Slazenger tennis balls.

The vintage tennis match was part of a highly successful day for the club that also included an exhibition match between Australian professional player Sam Groth and club coach David Moore.

Players also participated in a social hit throughout the day, while juniors had a chance to showcase their skills on the MLC Tennis Hot Shots court.

Manningham City Council Mayor Geoff Gough was in attendance and gave a speech congratulating the club on its history.

To mark the milestone, the club also put together a book documenting its 100 year history.

With 80 pages of history, photos, stories and past results, the book is a testament to the longevity and hard work of the club.

The history and photos found in the book make it a fascinating read for any tennis fan, providing an enthralling insight into the history of a tennis club.
